Fake News

Fake news is information that is made up or misleading, often presented as if it is true, to confuse or trick people. It can spread quickly on social media and websites, making it hard to know what to believe. For example, fake news might claim something unbelievable, like a celebrity doing something strange, or it might distort real events to create false stories. It’s important to check facts from reliable sources before accepting any news as true, so we can be informed and make good decisions.

Ownership and Copyright | Cybersmart

Public domain images are pictures that everyone can use for free! This means you don’t have to pay for them, and you can do anything with them, like use them in your school project or share them with your friends.

These images are either very old or the creators decided to give them away for anyone to use. You can find public domain images in places like websites that share art, photos, or old books. Just remember, since they are free for everyone, you might see them in lots of places!

Public domain images are pictures that anyone can use for free. This means you can look at them, share them, copy them, or even change them without asking anyone for permission.

Images become public domain for a few reasons:

1. **Time**: After a long time, usually many years after an artist or creator has passed away, their work goes into the public domain.

2. **Donations**: Sometimes, artists choose to give their work to the public for free, so everyone can use it.

3. **Government Works**: Some pictures created by the government are also public domain, which means anyone can use them.

Having public domain images is great because it lets everyone be creative! You can use these pictures for school projects, making art, or just for fun without worrying about getting in trouble or paying money.

Blackout Poetry

Blackout poetry is a creative way to make poems by using words from existing texts, like pages from books, newspapers, or magazines. You start by selecting a page with interesting content. Then, you go through the text and pick out the words or phrases that stand out to you. Once you’ve chosen your favorite words, you cover up or “black out” all the other words on the page, leaving only the ones you selected visible. This creates a new poem using just the words you’ve picked, and it can turn ordinary text into something special and unique.

This type of poetry is a fun way to play with language and express your ideas. You can use any text you like and get creative with how you choose and arrange the words. Blackout poetry helps you see old writing in a new light and can be a great way to discover new meanings and connections in the words you find. It’s like making art with words, and anyone can try it out, no matter how old they are!

  1. Choose Your Text: Pick a page from a book, magazine, or newspaper. It should be a text that you find interesting or inspiring. You might want to choose something with varied vocabulary or themes.
  2. Read Through the Text: Take a few moments to read the text and get a sense of what it’s about. Look for words or phrases that catch your attention or seem intriguing to you.
  3. Select Your Words: Using a pen or pencil, circle or highlight the words or phrases you want to use in your poem. These should be words that, when put together, create an interesting or meaningful message. You don’t have to choose a lot—sometimes less is more!
  4. Create Your Poem: Once you’ve marked your chosen words, it’s time to “black out” the rest of the text. Use a black marker or any dark-colored pen to cover up the words you didn’t select. Be careful not to accidentally cover up your chosen words!
  5. Review and Adjust: After blacking out the extra words, read your poem aloud to see how it sounds. Make sure it conveys the message or feeling you want. If needed, you can make minor adjustments by going back and changing what’s visible or adding new elements.
  6. Final Touches: You might want to add some artistic touches to your poem, like drawing around the edges or decorating the page. This can make your poem look even more unique and visually appealing.
